The museum was created for the thousands of marble fragments found in the grotto of the maritime villa. The reconstructed groups tell episodes from the Trojan War and the Odyssey, including Scylla and the Blinding of Polyphemus.

The museum and archaeological park form one cultural complex. Museum opening is 08:30–19:30, with last entry at 19:00; the outdoor area closes earlier according to the season and may close in bad weather. Monday is the ordinary weekly closing day. Always reconfirm the selected date on the official page.
